HP Email Archiving software for Microsoft Exchange is client software that integrates with HP Integrated Archive Platform to help you mitigate the business risk associated with legal discovery, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance requirements, reduce the cost of email storage, and boost messaging server performance and availability. HP Email Archiving software for Microsoft Exchange integrates with Microsoft Outlook and OWA to provide a seamless, nearly transparent user interface where archived messages can still be accessed through users’ standard Outlook interface.

HP Email Archiving software for Microsoft Exchange delivers these benefits by automatically archiving messages and attachments from individual Exchange mailboxes using the Selective Archiving version or 100% of all messages sent and received from Journal mailboxes using the Compliance version. HP Email Archiving software for Microsoft Exchange then archives messages into the HP Integrated Archive Platform allowing them to be retained on cost efficient archival storage which is highly available and robust.

Selective Archiving mode provides policies to mine messages from users' mailboxes. Policies can be based on any combination of message content, age, size, sender/recipient and keyword, all of which can be applied to individual users, groups or the total enterprise. Use of the Selective Archiving version can significantly reduce the storage burden on the primary Exchange servers by migrating a bulk of the data to the HP Integrated Archive Platform. This process can significantly boost the performance of the Exchange application while optimizing storage and controlling IT costs. Another benefit when using the Selective Archiving version is the ability to create user mailboxes with unlimited quotas which can eliminate the spread of PSTs and reduce the lost productivity that is a side effect of users managing their maxed out mailboxes. Users can now take control of their mailboxes and even restore lost or deleted emails from the simple, easy-to-use WebUI for an extensive range of search and retrieve capabilities.

Compliance Archiving mode enables all messages to be automatically archived from Journal mailboxes for the entire enterprise to a secure, highly scaleable archive. Once two copies have been securely stored on a Primary and a Secondary Universal Smartcell for added protection, the message is deleted from the Journal mailbox. Information now stored in the HP Integrated Archive Platform is encoded with a digital signature, date, and time stamp to prevent tampering, as well as retention periods to prevent premature or malicious deletion of messages. This can help businesses address specific data retention regulations, such as SEC 17a-4, and internal corporate governance requirements and allow the business user to focus on the core business.

By serving as an email archiving client to HP Integrated Archive Platform, HP Email Archiving software for Microsoft Exchange leverages the comprehensive capabilities of HP’s grid-based disk archiving system, including single instancing, full-content indexing, date and time stamping, high performance searching, and a wide range of retention policies. The tightly integrated Email Archiving software also leverages its unique, high performance grid architecture and “multi-dimensional” scalability which can support from hundreds to more than 100,000 users, billions of objects, and 100s of terabytes of archival storage with unprecedented performance and user access to data in seconds.

The HP Email Archiving for Microsoft Exchange Installation and Startup service addresses Exchange email integration via the HP Archiving Gateway (Exchange) component within the HP Integrated Archive Platform. The service will install, configure, integrate and validate the correct functioning of HP Integrated Archive Platform and HP Email Archiving software for Microsoft Exchange on ONE production email server for a Compliance Archive license mode and/or a Select Archive license mode depending on which licenses are purchased by the customer.
