Answers

General
Q1. Is this a Smart Array Controller?
A1. No, the HP 6 Port SATA RAID controller is not a Smart Array. While this controller offers ideal performance and reliability levels for entry requirements, it does not offer the high levels of performance and enhanced reliability features of a Smart Array controller.

Q2. Which ProLiant Servers is/are supported by the 6 Port SATA RAID controller?
A2. ML150 G2, Ml110 G2, ML350 G4p, and ML310 G2

Q3. Will the data on my hard drives migrate if I upgrade to a Smart Array controller at a later time?
A3. No, the drive formatting is incompatible with Smart Array controllers and requires a backup and restore process to migrate data.

Q4. If I remove the hard drives and accidentally install them in the wrong order, will the system work?
A4. Yes, the HP 6 Port SATA RAID controller is equipped with a special feature called "drive roaming" that allows it to determine where each drive is logically supposed to fit within an array and can automatically adjust its settings to work properly if drives are accidentally installed in a different order.
