HP Storage Essentials Performance Edition software provides comprehensive and deep performance management of your HP storage arrays (EVA and XP) and storage area networks (SANs) around the arrays. It eliminates the complexity to monitor, manage, and plan performance of HP arrays and SANs in a heterogeneous environment. It also extends the performance monitoring to application, server, and SAN environment to provide comprehensive IT Service performance management capabilities. HP Storage Essentials Performance Edition monitors and manages performance of the physical and the virtual environment; it supports heterogeneous applications (Oracle, SQL Server, Sybase databases, Exchange application) and heterogeneous servers as well as SAN devices from diverse vendors. The integrated performance monitoring enables application, server, and storage administrators to quickly troubleshoot EVA and XP storage performance issues and ensure high IT service SLA.

Analyze historical trends and create SLA reports
Historical performance charts with customizable stats aid the ability to take hourly, weekly, or monthly snapshots. This allows you to track performance trends over time to quickly see what has changed and to take the necessary steps and action before performance bottlenecks get serious. You can also create SLA reports that can be easily shared with customers to create storage SLA. Lastly, historical performance and forecasting allows with load balancing decisions and plan for business continuity scenarios.
Storage capacity management
HP Storage Essentials Performance Edition also provides the “big picture” views of your storage resources and its utilization. Current, historical, and projected capacity information is delivered for all supported business applications, host servers, fabric switches, and EVA and XP storage systems. For each resource type, capacity information is presented in the appropriate context for that resource (for example, megabytes free for logical host volumes; used and available ports for a fabric switch; mapped, unmapped, unallocated, and unused raw capacity for disk pools in a storage system). Storage Essentials Performance Edition also provides out-of-box utilization charts summarize capacity use by host operating system, connection types by switch, port utilization by storage system, and more. Historical trends are available for every resource, and can be charted over any length of time by day, week, month, or year. In addition, trends can be extrapolated over a user-defined period to forecast future capacity demands, enabling you to see which logical and physical resources will exhaust capacity soon, and which have excess capacity that can be leveraged.
