Overview |

HP StorageWorks XP Array Manager Software improves efficiency and maintains quality of service by allowing you to manage data volumes and allocate HP StorageWorks XP24000 and XP20000 Disk Array resources so that your applications receive the proper level of support. Create LUNs, create expanded LUNs, and create small custom size volumes, and establish host access to them. Efficiently control replication volumes with a host-based command line interface. Improve performance by reserving areas of cache to store frequently accessed data. Isolate applications by subdividing the XP Disk Array into smaller segments, each consisting of dedicated cache, disk and ports.
HP XP Array Manager Software protects your data by controlling access, preventing unauthorized alteration, and securely deleting data when it is no longer required. Configure security to prevent unauthorized servers from accessing the data. Protect the XP Disk Array from accidental modification by setting up partition administrators who only have access to the partition. Control access to critical data, for purposes such as archiving and data retention. Set read and write access permissions, create read-only volumes, and protect data from being replicated. And when the data is no longer needed, securely delete it with successive overwrites to minimize the likelihood that it can be restored.
NOTE: HP StorageWorks XP Array Manager Software is a required product for all XP24000 and XP20000 Disk Array implementations, except for Mainframe-only environments.

Features and Benefits |
 |
 |
- Manage volumes: Make most effective use of your HP StorageWorks XP Disk Array by using HP StorageWorks XP Array Manager Software to configure and manage data volumes. Create LUNs, create expanded LUNs, create small custom size volumes, configure ports, and add or delete host I/O paths.
- Manage replication volumes: Efficiently manage HP StorageWorks XP Continuous Access and HP StorageWorks XP Business Copy volumes with a host-based command line interface. Additionally, you can use the command line interface to configure and manage read-only and archive volumes.
- Reserve cache: Improve file access times and accelerate data transfers by reserving areas of cache to store frequently accessed information. Assigning data to on-board cache improves performance because cache-resident data is available at host data transfer speeds for both read and write operations.
- Partition the array: Rest easy knowing that the most critical applications have the resources required to deliver the expected performance. Divide the HP StorageWorks XP Disk Array into up to 32 independent re-configurable "sub-arrays", each having its own host ports, disk parity groups, cache, and Partition Storage Administrator.
- Control access: Minimize risk of unauthorized access to your online data using HP StorageWorks XP Array Manager Software to configure, manage and secure all host accesses to the HP StorageWorks XP Disk Array.
- Prevent unauthorized data modification: Protect critical data for archiving or data retention purposes. Create read-only volumes, prevent data replication, control read and write access, and protect data sets from query/IO scan/file system inquiry operations.
- Securely delete data: Protect your information at the end of its lifecycle by securely deleting it. Based on DoD5220.22-M, the standard defined by the U.S. Department of Defense, HP StorageWorks XP Array Manager Software allows you to completely delete data on a specified volume by repeatedly overwriting the volume with dummy data.
- Automate tasks: Save time and reduce errors by automating array configuration and management tasks using the Command Line Interface (CLI) and scripts. Interface with SRM software platforms using the SMI-S provider.
