Registering Data Protector Express Single Server Edition

It is recommended that you acquire the permanent license key before you install Data Protector Express Single Server Edition and enter the license key during the installation. To use the HP License Key Delivery Service to acquire the license key do either of the following:

• Insert the Data Protector Express Single Server Edition CD-ROM into your CD drive and use the link on the splash screen to go to the License Key Delivery web site. Follow the on screen instructions.
• Locate the electronic Entitlement Certificate in the ‘doc’ directory of the Data Protector Express Single Server Edition CD-ROM. Copy the Order Number from this. Go to www.webware.hp.com. Select ‘Generate New Licenses’. Paste the Order number in to the ‘Order number’ field. Follow the on screen instructions.

Now install Data Protector Express Single Server Edition, adding the permanent license key when prompted.

If you do not acquire a license key before installation

If you do not enter a permanent license key for Data Protector Express Single Server Edition during the installation, a 60-day evaluation license key will be installed automatically. In this case you will need to acquire and add the permanent license key within 60 days of installation to continue using Data Protector Express Single Server Edition.

Once you have acquired the permanent license key (using one of the methods described above):

1. Select Licenses from the Help drop-down menu in the Data Protector Express Single Server Edition GUI.
2. Select ‘New’ in the Task and Information pane and add the license key and click OK.
3. Data Protector Express Single Server Edition is now licensed for permanent use

Note: Before Data Protector Express Single Server Edition can be upgraded to Data Protector Express, it must first be registered and the permanent license key entered.
