When the Data Protector Express base product is upgraded, all options should be upgraded at the same time because mixed version installations are not supported.

Just one license is required per machine even if in Data Protector Express 3.x the machine had a Media Server and a Network Server Backup Agent.

Entitlement to Data Protector Express Version Upgrades

If you had an active support contract for your owned Data Protector Express licenses when Data Protector Express 4.0 was released (16 June 2008) you should receive the version upgrade from Data Protector Express 3.x to Data Protector Express 4.0 as part of your support entitlement. The balance of your Data Protector Express 3.x support can be transferred to your Data Protector Express 4.0 installation by contacting your HP Services Contract Administrator.

If you did not have an active support contract for your owned Data Protector Express licenses when Data Protector Express 4.0 was released (16 June 2008) you need to purchase the version upgrade part numbers in the table above. Note: the version upgrade part numbers do not include any HP support entitlement. If you wish to add HP support please order the appropriate Care Pack as shown on the QuickSpecs.
