Answers

Q1. Can the new custom reports created by HP Report Designer be accessed from the same Web-based user interface as the standard reports included with the base console?
A1. Yes. New custom reports can be accessed from new explorer entries in HP Storage Essentials. Custom reports inherit all the features of the standard out-of-the-box reports, including export to multiple formats; role-based security; and automatic email delivery and scheduling functions.
Q2. Do custom reports have to be re-written each time a new version of HP Storage Essentials is released?
A2. No. Reports are developed against schema views for the embedded Oracle database that supports HP Storage Essentials. This enables you, an HP consultant, or an HP Solution Partner to design reports using any information in the database, without worrying about future compatibility or report upgrade issues.
Q3. Can custom reports be designed to work against multiple instances of the HP management server?
A3. Yes. HP Report Designer can be used in conjunction with the optional HP Global Reporter module to develop an unlimited number of custom reports on your global storage infrastructure.
