Overview

Designed for enterprises that implement multiple instances of the HP product family, HP Global Reporter delivers roll-up reports that summarize key asset, configuration, capacity, performance, and utilization statistics from your distributed storage infrastructure, giving you the knowledge you need to efficiently manage global storage operations and implement strategic IT initiatives.

HP Global Reporter enables you to designate one or more HP management servers as aggregators of other HP management servers (satellites) to satisfy the consolidated reporting needs of your global enterprise. Any management server can act as an aggregator, and satellite management servers can themselves be aggregators for their own satellites. To support global reporting, a new schema is created in the embedded Oracle database of each HP management server that acts as an aggregator. You can configure the date and time when each aggregator is automatically refreshed, or manually refresh aggregators on demand.

Multiple instances of HP Storage Essentials Suite can be rolled up into one or more aggregators for centralized management of the global enterprise

• Designate one or more HP Storage Essentials Suite management servers as aggregators for other HP management servers (satellites)
• Specify satellites simply by entering the IP addresses and names of each management server that will be rolled up
• Satellite management servers can also be aggregators of their own satellites

• Database link operations automatically pull data from the embedded Oracle Database of each Satellite into the Oracle Database of the aggregator
• New global reporting schema is automatically created in the Oracle Database of the aggregator to store global reporting data

• Configure schedules that automatically refresh each aggregator with satellite information using start date/time and repeat intervals
• Specify number of retries before refresh operation fails
• Override automated schedule with manual "refresh now" option

• Select from new categories of canned reports, including Global Application Utilization Details and Summary; Global Application Utilization Details and Summary by Application Type; Global Host Utilization Details and Summary; Global Host Utilization Details and Summary by OS; Global Storage System Utilization Details and Summary; Global Storage System Utilization Summary and Details by Vendor; Global Switch Port Utilization Details and Summary; Global Switch Port Utilization Details and Summary by Vendor

• Integrates with HP Report Designer to support an unlimited number of custom global reports
• Schema views for global reports enable new reports to be built against the embedded Oracle Database in each management server aggregator, without worrying about future compatibility or report upgrade issues

• Export global reports to HTML, DHTML, XML, Text, PDF, RTF, CSV, Email, Excel, PostScript

• Global reports are accessible from the HP Storage Essentials Enterprise Edition

• Same role-based access control features of standard canned reports apply to global reports
• Centrally control who can access global reports

• Global reports, like the standard reports, can be scheduled for automatic e-mail delivery to individuals or mailing lists
