| In today’s business world, mergers, acquisitions, and technology changes have created IT environments where varieties of dissimilar servers and storage must co-exist. HP StorageWorks XP External Storage Software decreases the stress and reduces the cost of owning heterogeneous data storage by simplifying and centralizing common SAN management tasks through storage virtualization. In addition it simplifies movement of data between dissimilar arrays. HP XP External Storage Software provides these benefits by giving you the ability to access, monitor, and manage data residing on a variety of different disk arrays as if all of the data were residing on an HP StorageWorks XP Disk Array.
Through advanced virtualization technology, HP XP External Storage Software enables the hosting of XP Disk Array data on externally attached disk arrays. Servers can see the capacity of the various arrays, but are insulated from the physical attributes. By providing a common access path to dissimilar storage products the XP Disk Array becomes a storage controller for flexible, multi-tiered storage with a range of cost and performance capabilities. The various tiers of storage can be centrally managed by HP StorageWorks XP Command View Advanced Edition Software or HP StorageWorks XP Remote Web Console as if they were part of the HP StorageWorks XP disk array. HP XP External Storage Software is designed to work with a variety of XP Disk Array software, including HP StorageWorks XP Business Copy Software, HP StorageWorks XP Continuous Access Software, HP StorageWorks XP Auto LUN Software, HP StorageWorks XP Thin Provisioning Software, and HP StorageWorks XP Tiered Storage Manager Software.
