Answers

Q1. What other software must be installed in order to use HP XP for FlashCopy Mirroring Software?
A1. For HP XP12000, XP10000 and earlier Disk Arrays, Hitachi ShadowImage for Mainframe must be installed before installing FlashCopy. Hitachi ShadowImage for Mainframe is bundled with HP XP Business Copy Software and is not sold independently.

For HP XP24000 and XP20000 Disk Arrays, FlashCopy does not require Hitachi ShadowImage for Mainframe.

Q2. There are two versions of FlashCopy. Which is included with this product?
A2. HP XP for FlashCopy Mirroring Software includes licenses for both Version 1 and Version 2. Only install one of the two versions.
Q3. What are FlashCopy Version 1 and FlashCopy Version 2?
A3. FlashCopy Version 1 is the first release of FlashCopy. It was introduced with IBM’s ESS and has been available on all XP disk arrays since the XP512. Version 2 is the successor to Version 1 and includes new features and functionality. Examples of the additional functionality in Version 2 include the ability to create multiple copies from one source and the ability to copy datasets as well as full volumes. Version 1 and Version 2 are not compatible and cannot coexist on the same disk array.
Q4. How is HP XP for FlashCopy Mirroring Software licensed?
A4. FlashCopy is licensed on the total used capacity of the FlashCopy primary and secondary volumes on one array.
