Overview

HP’s Scalable, Available Enterprise NAS Clustered Gateway software is the next generation architecture for NAS, with an order of magnitude more performance, support for 1000’s of clients and capacity up to 2 PB in a single system. With data storage rates growing more than 30% annually and more data being deemed “business critical”, HP recognizes the need to provide NAS storage systems to meet your growing business needs.

Whether it’s mission-critical ERP systems, Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server databases, web or other business applications or very specific high-IO-demanding applications, HP’s scalable NAS systems are ideal solutions.

At the heart of the solution is HP PolyServe’s File Serving software, based on a symmetrical cluster file system that allows up to 16 servers to simultaneously serve the same stored file. Also included is robust failover software, a cluster volume manager for creating large, flexible storage volumes and Matrix Manager, a cluster management console. A collection of inexpensive servers can now function as a single, easily managed, incrementally scalable (“pay as you grow”), and highly available NAS appliance.

Features and Benefits

  • Improve Performance: An HP Scalable NAS, high performance file serving cluster, delivers better aggregate throughput and price/performance than the alternative approaches.
  • Scalability: As needs grow, a cluster can be scaled from as little as a pair of dual-processor servers to a set of 16 servers with multiple Gigabit Ethernet and Fibre Channel connections — all without interrupting client service and without requiring any migration of data.
  • Lower Capital Outlay: Create much more powerful NAS clusters at a fraction the cost of other scalable NAS solutions.
  • Increased Flexibility and Growth: Customers can pay as they grow by adding more throughput and processing capacity whenever demand dictates.
  • Increased System Uptime: The Scalable NAS software constantly assesses server, network, and storage health and ensures that files are accessible and applications continue to function despite a failure anywhere throughout the cluster.
  • Server Consolidation: Consolidate storage islands onto a scalable, fault-tolerant file serving cluster for thousands of users, clients and compute nodes.
  • More Efficient Management: The Scalable NAS system provides a single pool of storage to provision, manage and backup while centralizing management of all servers, storage and high availability policies through one console.
