Overview
Scalable NAS for Oracle from HP is one of the only file serving solutions validated by Oracle to meet the high performance and availability requirements of mission-critical Oracle databases. It provides customers the ease of storage provisioning found in NAS with industry leadership from HP in scalable NAS architecture while leveraging the economics of industry standard server and storage components to build a high performance, fault tolerant file serving cluster for database consolidation.

The Scalable NAS for Oracle solution provides next generation scalability and integrated high availability in a high performance NFS serving system. Because of our symmetrical cluster file system, every server sees all the data, enabling key benefits such as shared Oracle HOME, single point of backup, seamless server failover and linear performance scaling without any data manipulation.

Features and Benefits
  • Simplify: No host-based volume management or file system administration by using NFS and NAS verses FC and SAN. The simple connectivity of NFS means its as easy as Ethernet.
  • Ease of Storage Provisioning: Avoid the complexities of SAN storage and the Oracle storage management systems. Simplify storage via NAS with Oracle’s preferred protocol – NFS.
  • Ease of Database and Application Provisioning:Simplify database and application provisioning with a shared Oracle HOME and APPL_TOP to reduce installation, patching, and configuration errors.
  • Reduce Costs: Fast fault tolerant storage at a much lower price than SAN. No expensive FC HBAs and switches or SAN management and the costs will amoritize over potentially dozens of database servers.
  • Scalable NAS: Benefit from the scalability of HP’s next generation NAS storage. As needs grow, a cluster can be scaled from as little as a pair of dual-processor servers to a set of 16 servers with , multiple Gigabit Ethernet and Fibre Channel connections all without interrupting client service and without requiring any migration of data.
