| Q5. |
When using HP StorageWorks System Copy Software for SAP, does the target host need to be a fully installed machine or will the OS be copied as well? What requirements must be fulfilled on the target system?
|
| A5. |
The target system must be a pre-installed HP-UX system, with all the recommended SAP and Oracle patches pre-installed and kernel parameters set for SAP usage. HP recommends you use Ignite UX to make an image of a standard SAP system, and then ignite any new systems to a default installed level.
Besides that standard OS install, patches and kernel parameters, you also have to pre-create the Oracle and SAP user accounts on this system, and the Oracle DBA user install Oracle binaries on the system. The user name and accounts are unique for the target SAP system SID, so this part does require some advance planning before running the copy job. The target system should also have access to the SAP install binaries in order to install and reconfigure SAP. It is also necessary to create the SAP installer profiles on this system. If the Source system has Java components the target system should also have access to the Java export directory.
Future versions will improve on automating more of these operations.

How does Electronic Software Delivery (eSD) work?
|
| A7. |
Electronic Software Delivery (eSD) provides delivery of software without physical license key or media shipments. Upon ordering an HP software product, an email is sent to you and/or your HP-certified reseller with instructions to get the license keys and download links.
|
 |
| Q8. |
Will physically-delivered software still be available?
|
| A7. |
Yes. Some customers, channel partners, and distributors may have unique needs and circumstances which can only be satisfied by physical delivery of their software. HP has no plans currently to eliminate physically-delivered software offerings in favor of their electronically-delivered equivalents.
