  • 1 GB of RAM reserved
  • One virtual CPU with 2GHz reserved
  • 5 GB to 2 TB of disk space per vmdk file, up to 10 TB total per VSA
  • A dedicated Gigabit virtual switch

Instructions

When you click on the 30-day free trial button, you will proceed to a webpage where you can download the software.

You will see two download choices in the Software specification box:

  1. Select Virtual_SAN_Appliance_Trial.zip if you want to install the actual VSA product bits onto an existing ESX/ESXi server.

  2. Select HP_LeftHand_Laptop_Demo.zip if you want a fully functional demo environment. This is the best choice if you do not have an existing ESX/ESXi server available for your evaluation.

Either download is about 380 MB which can take 20-30 minutes to download with typical connections.

If you experience any difficulties, please contact our support team at vsa.inquiries@hp.com.

2 Source: Based on a comparison between the HP P4000 and best practice implementations of EMC CLARiiON and NetApp FAS analyzing the impact of recommended hardware configurations in a multi-site configuration. Unlike the competition the P4000 does not require a 2nd complete system for multi-site high availability, nor does it require incremental synchronous replication software. Instead, a single system is split across two sites and leverages integrated software capabilities.
3 Source: Based on July 2009 list price comparison between a 4TB dual-controller Dell EqualLogic PS6000 and HP P4000 VSA Software plus 24 250GB HDDs used to create the virtual iSCSI SAN in a VMware deployment.
