1. Does UDO adhere to SEC Rule 17a-4 requirements?
2. Does UDO adhere to HIPAA regulations?
3. MO has traditionally been a very expensive archival solution, how does UDO differ?
4. The Optical market is relatively small compared to the tape back up market. Why is HP supporting this new optical technology?

Answers

Q1. Does UDO adhere to SEC Rule 17a-4 requirements?
A1. Yes. Like MO, UDO Write Once media is fully compliant and supported. In fact, the requirements actually call attention to MO as the only pre-ordained, acceptable archival storage medium to keep e-mail records completely safe and tamper proof. UDO follows this suite.
Q2. Does UDO adhere to HIPAA regulations?
A2. HIPAA regulations state that patient records must be kept for the lifetime of a patient. UDO Write Once disks can store archived data for up to 30 years. Unlike MO, UDO's new phase change technology means the surface of the media is physically altered when data is recorded and cannot be changed again without destroying the disk. MO permanence is magnetic based and enabled through software. All of which makes UDO a great solution for the medical industry.
Q3. MO has traditionally been a very expensive archival solution, how does UDO differ?
A3. UDO delivers five-fold improvements in optical cost. Unlike its predecessor, UDO offers 30 GB of capacity at $2.00 per GB. Future generations of UDO, scheduled to be released every two years, are intended to double capacity without any planned price increases for the media.
Q4. The Optical market is relatively small compared to the tape back up market. Why is HP supporting this new optical technology?
A4. Actually, the archival market is growing by 95 percent per year. As federal regulations become stricter, as corporate scandals rock America and as professional archival storage demands continue to grow, UDO delivers faster access time, inalterability and lower cost structures.
