Fabric Watch enables each switch to monitor the SAN for potential faults and automatically alert network managers to problems before they become failures. Fabric Watch tracks a variety of SAN fabric elements, events, and counters. Monitoring fabric-wide events, ports, SFPs, and environmental parameters permits early fault detection and isolation as well as performance measurement. Each switch in the SAN needs its own Fabric Watch license.

HP partners have developed CNAs that present both an Ethernet NIC and a Fibre Channel HBA to the server operating system, allowing IT departments to deploy FCoE in a completely transparent manner, using the same operating system drivers, management software, and best practices they use with both networks today. These adapters participate in auto-negotiation with the switch, simplifying administration while helping reduce configuration errors.

Emulex LP21000 CNAs have been tested in conjunction with the HP 2408 FCoE CN Switch family with HP storage. These products can be obtained from the manufacturer or Emulex resellers.
