Overview

HP StorageWorks provides two management packs for Microsoft System Center: The HP StorageWorks Management Pack for Systems Center Operations Manager 2007 and the PolyServe Software Management Pack for System Center Operations Manager 2007.

The HP StorageWorks Management Pack for Systems Center Operations Manager 2007

This comprehensive integration solution allows administrators to proactively streamline IT operations and increase systems availability by monitoring Microsoft Windows environments and HP StorageWorks products through a common OpsMgr 2007 console. It complements the Management Packs for ProLiant and Integrity servers—and also complements HP Systems Insight Manager tools to ensure that you have the broadest possible choice of capabilities when deploying a systems management infrastructure.

Software Prerequisites:

WEB-based Enterprise Services - WEBES

For environments including EVA or EMA arrays, the HP StorageWorks Management Pack for OpsMgr 2007 requires WEBES v4.4 or later to be installed and running on the application server.

SNMP Storage Agents

For the remainder of the supported devices, the HP StorageWorks Management Pack for OpsMgr 2007 requires product-specific SNMP storage agents to be installed on the application server. SNMP agents are included with each product's device management software. Complete details are provided in the user's documentation.

The PolyServe Software Management Pack for System Center Operations Manager 2007

The PolyServe Software Management Pack for OpsMgr2007 provides discovery, health, and monitoring for HP PolyServe based clusters. The Management Pack auto-discovers the inventory of the logical clusters, Virtual File Servers, Virtual SQL Servers, and file systems in the customer environment managed by OpsMgr 2007. It does so by establishing a 'cluster object' composed of elements such as servers and file systems and allows multiple clusters to be visualized and managed through a variety of dashboards and views. These managed objects show their health state, associated alerts (by way of the Windows Event Logs), and relationships to the physical servers they are configured on. It also creates virtual objects that can move from server to server or between clusters making it easy to track associations between elements, workloads, and clusters.

• Version 1.5 of HP StorageWorks Management Pack for System Center Operations Manager 2007 adds support for the HP B-series SAN switches, the MSA 2000 family of arrays, and the StorageWorks XP 24000 Array.
