New
» HP StorageWorks EVA iSCSI Connectivity Option
As mid-range and enterprise businesses grow, so does the amount of information required to manage, share, and protect. Rapid growth may increase the cost of operations and spread critical business data and resources across multiple systems and applications. The HP StorageWorks EVA iSCSI Connectivity Option extends the FC SAN investment with integrated multi-protocol support, allowing customers to incorporate iSCSI servers without requiring additional storage arrays or management costs. The EVA iSCSI Connectivity Option offers simultaneous iSCSI and Fibre Channel support, providing modular multi-protocol SAN designs with increased scalability, stability and ROI on storage infrastructure. Fibre Channel SANs based on EVA technology are able to leverage IP networks and extend SAN advantages into smaller departments and remote locations, where budget constraints would not allow for a FC SAN. This enables storage consolidation by creating larger SANs extending over longer distances providing access to storage that can be scaled/re-allocated when needed. Over 70% of the servers within a data center have directly attached storage and backup devices and are not connected to a Fibre Channel SANs as they do not require the higher levels of FC performance. Because these devices are isolated from other servers, excess storage capacity cannot be redeployed. The cost of FC connectivity to a SAN is too high ($1,000 per port), and/or the distances between server and storage are too great.

Enhanced
» HP StorageWorks XP10000 Disk Array
Delivers state-of-the-art reliability and "always-on" availability for enterprise mission-critical applications where downtime is not an option. The XP10000 is designed for organizations that demand the most from their storage. No single-point-of-failure and non-disruptive online upgrades ensure that data is always available. Outstanding random and sequential performance is ideal for database, OLTP, Oracle, SAP, and Exchange workloads. Boot-once scalability meets capacity, performance, and heterogeneous connectivity needs today and tomorrow - without ever requiring a forklift upgrade. Advanced virtualization technology simplifies the lifecycle management of data in heterogeneous SAN environments by supporting up to 16 Petabytes of external storage - all of which can be managed from one single pane of glass. Flexible secure array partitioning eases provisioning, while array-to-array local and remote data copying enables multi-site disaster tolerance. World-class service and support for IT environments meets the most demanding needs.

What's New

  • 8-port 2 Gb Fibre Channel CHIP pair increases the performance per port (particularly in CA applications) by having a designated microprocessor for each port.
  • Supports up to 64 GB of Cache, twice as much Cache as before, allowing more data to temporarily be stored from Host until it is written to disk and providing more cache to be used for partitioning among users.
  • Supports EVA4000/6000/8000 as external storage, which allows data from these arrays to be managed behind the XP - all from a single pane of glass. The XP can then recognize the LUNs created on the external storage and operate with them as if they were internal to the array.

Enhanced

» HP StorageWorks Enterprise File Services WAN Acclerator
A family of products are comprehensive remote office solutions that deliver true value to enterprise customers with distributed IT environments. EF WAN Accelerators can accelerate many common enterprise applications by up to 100 times, which transforms the way teams work together - no matter where they are. By creating LAN-like performance over the WAN, EFS WAN Accelerator solutions enable consolidation of remote office IT infrastructure, resulting in savings through reduction of equipment, IT staffing, and complex global networks. And EFS WAN Accelerators optimize WAN bandwidth - removing up to 95% of WAN traffic to increase capacity of low bandwidth links, or affecting TCP flow control to increase utilization of high bandwidth / high latency links - ultimately helping to delay or avoid major WAN bandwidth upgrades. The products are built on HP ProLiant server platforms, and offer the industry's most complete solution for problems affecting wide area networks, remote offices and the applications they rely on. Unlike other WAN optimization products that focus solely on improving WAN bandwidth, EFS WAN Accelerators not only deliver the industry's highest bandwidth optimization, but increase agility in addressing the effects of high latency on TCP and the applications that run on TCP.

» HP StorageWorks 6000 Virtual Library System
Integrating seamlessly into existing backup applications and processes, the HP StorageWorks 6000 Virtual Library System accelerates backup performance in complex SAN environments while improving overall reliability. Emulating popular tape libraries and tape drives, the HP 6000 Virtual Library System matches the existing data protection environment, removing the need to change backup software or monitoring policies. By emulating multiple tape drives simultaneously, more backup jobs can be done in parallel resulting in reduced backup times. Additionally, because the data resides on disk, single file restores are exceptionally fast. The HP 6000 Virtual Library System simplifies your SAN environment by providing more virtual devices, reducing the complexity of shared storage while maintaining the manageability of a single system. As your environment changes, the HP 6000 Virtual Library System adapts to it - host masking and mapping ensure that only the appropriate hosts have access to the HP 6000 Virtual Library System. As storage requirements grow, it matches the environment by scaling both capacity and performance.
