HP StorageWorks LTO-4 Ultrium 1840 Tape Drive is positioned as HP's first tape drive capable of storing up to 1.6TB per cartridge while providing hardware-based data encryption to enable greater levels of security and unprecedented performance.

Data hardware encryption using AES 256-bit provides easy-to-enable security to protect the most sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access of tape cartridges. Capable of data transfer rates up to 240MB/sec, HP’s exclusive Data Rate Matching feature further optimizes performance by matching speed of host to keep drives streaming.

With the ability to read and write LTO-3 media and read LTO-2 media, customers now require fewer data cartridges to meet their storage needs, significantly reducing their IT costs and increasing their ROI.

The HP StorageWorks MSL2024 Tape Library provides a capacity of up to 38.4 TB (2:1 compression) and extensive tape library features in a compact 2U form factor. The web-based management feature allows centralized management of many sites - ideal in a centralized environment. The tape library offers many tape technology and interface configuration choices; choose one of four HP StorageWorks LTO Ultrium drive types and available with SCSI, SAS or FC interfaces. The LTO-4 Ultrium 1840 Tape Drive configuration provides encryption support. A second LTO-3 Ultrium 920 or LTO-2 Ultrium 448 Tape Drive can be added later as backup needs increase. The tape library offers two 12-slot removable magazines, one user-configurable mail slot and a barcode reader for efficient media management.

The HP StorageWorks MSL4048 Tape Library will meet a broad range of demanding data storage needs for small to medium businesses, workgroups, or remote offices. The MSL4048 offers up to 76.8 TB of compressed storage capacity (2:1 compression) in a 4U form factor with your choice of HP LTO Ultrium tape drives and FC, SCSI or SAS interfaces. The LTO-4 Ultrium 1840 configuration provides encryption support. The MSL4048 enables you to easily manage your media both in and out of the library with a standard bar code reader, and four 12-slot removable magazines. You can easily add performance to your MSL4048 with tool-free drive upgrade kits. The MSL4048 is easily managed with a unique HP web-based remote management interface, reducing dependencies on your IT staff.

HP StorageWorks MSL6000 Tape Libraries provide a secure, centralized backup in a single automated device, freeing valuable IT resources for more strategic work. The MSL6000 Tape Libraries offer a choice of tape technology including the HP StorageWorks LTO-4 Ultrium 1840 with embedded hardware encryption support, Ultrium 960, and SDLT 600 tape drives.

The MSL6000 Tape Libraries will scale to larger configurations by enabling a single library to grow and change with capacity and technology as needs require. Backups are secure with AES 256-bit embedded hardware encryption on the HP LTO-4 Ultrium 1840 Tape Drives. Encryption key management support is available with HP StorageWorks Data Protector and other ISV backup applications.

The MSL8096 Tape Library provides you choice of LTO Ultrium Tape Drives, interfaces such as FC, SCSI and SAS, and an optional second power supply for even greater reliability. The LTO-4 Ultrium 1840 Tape Drive configuration provides encryption support. Easily manage your media with a standard bar code reader and eight 12-slot removable magazines. As your data protection needs increase, add additional performance or capacity to your MSL8096 tape library with tool-free, next generation drive upgrade kits. With web-based remote management, the MSL8096 is easily managed from any location, reducing dependencies on your IT staff.

The HP StorageWorks Rack-Mount Kits provide a high density, rack-mountable tape drive solution for both direct-attach SCSI, SAS, and USB backup and archiving applications. The Rack-Mount Kit family is ideal for customers who have rack environments and are looking for a tape backup solution with a smaller footprint.

HP StorageWorks Rack-Mount kits are supported on HP ProLiant and AlphaServer platforms. HP StorageWorks DAT and Ultrium drives support HP StorageWorks One Button Disaster Recovery which allows you to restore your entire system at the touch of a button without the need for system disks or software CDs, and HP StorageWorks Library and Tape Tools which helps make installation, management, and troubleshooting easier.
