| Q1. |
How can I analyze my SAN using SAN Visibility? |
| A1. |
SAN Visibility is a quick and easy way to view and analyze your SAN topology and components. It can be used as an inventory management tool in data centers. SAN Visibility discovers switches, collects data from your SAN and sends the data for analysis through e-mail.
To analyze your SAN, collect SAN data using SAN Visibility and send the raw data (".hp" file) to
SAN_Visibility@hp.com for processing. The collected data is then processed and a report is generated and is emailed to your email address.
The report sent to you includes:
- SAN topology diagram
- High level SAN summary
- Device inventory
- Connectivity details of FC switches, HBAs and Storage System
- Driver and firmware recommendations for HBAs and FC switches

| Q2. |
What are the data security (privacy) features available in SAN Visibility? |
| A2. |
SAN Visibility provides the following data security features:
- SAN data that you send to and receive from HP is encrypted.
- You can mask the IP address of the switches in your SAN using “Mask IP address” feature available with SAN Visibility. What that means is that you can restrict SAN Visibility to send your IP address outside your network.
- You have an option to view and verify the data before sending it to HP for processing.
- The data you send to HP for processing is encrypted and stored in a restricted environment.

 |
| Q3. |
How to open the processed report? |
| A3. |
The processed report that is sent back to you is in form of an encrypted file. You can decrypted this file only on the machine where SAN Visibility is installed.
To decrypt and open the encrypted file, do the following:
- Save the attached file at a preferred location of your choice where SAN Visibility is installed. Do not change ".hppr" extension.
- Double-click the saved file (".hppr" file) to decrypt it.
You may choose to decrypt and open the report or you may just choose to decrypt it and open at a later stage.
- The SAN Visibility processed report is opened in the default Internet browser on the system.
The decrypted report is placed at: \ExtractedProcessedReports\
