Cisco MDS 9500 Enterprise Package Software
This product provides a license to use the set of advanced traffic-engineering and security features recommended for all enterprise SANs.

Inter-VSAN Routing—Inter-VSAN Routing allows selective transfer of data traffic between specific initiators and targets to share resources across VSANs without compromising benefits of scalability, reliability, availability, and security.

Quality of Service (QoS)—The QoS feature in Cisco MDS 9000 SAN-OS allows traffic to be classified into four distinct levels for service differentiation.

Extended Credits—The Extended Credits feature allows up to 3500 credits to be assigned to a single Fibre Channel port within a group of 4 ports.

Fibre Channel Write Acceleration—reduces I/O latency and extends the distance for disaster-recovery and business-continuity applications.

SCSI Flow Statistics—Flow Statistics includes read, write, and error statistics.

IP Security—Includes the ability to use and manage IPsec for standards-based data encryption.
Optional
Cisco MDS 9500 Fabric Manager Server
The Cisco Fabric Manager Server (FMS) Package extends Cisco Fabric Manager by providing historical performance data collection for network traffic hot-spot analysis, centralized management services and advanced application integration. Hot spots that can limit bandwidth performance within a Fibre Channel interconnect can be monitored.

Historical switch link performance data can be recorded for analysis. Action can be taken to limit bandwidth issues. Fabric Management can be centralized.

Multiple clients can access the same management information.

A management server can be set up to continuously run Fabric Manager services. Up to 16 clients (user interface) can access the management server. Multiple Fibre Channel fabrics can be monitored by each management server. No need to open multiple copies of Fabric Manager for each fabric.

Optional
MDS 9500 Storage Services Enabler Software
The MDS 9500 Storage Services Enabler software is used in conjunction with the MDS 9000 Storage Services Module and provides the license to use a third party network-based and switch hosted intelligent fabric applications on the MDS 9500 switch. Optional
MDS 9500 FCIP Services Software License
The FCIP services software is used in conjunction with the IP Services modules or Multi-protocol Services Module and allows FC traffic transmission through an IP network. This is used for SAN extension to create multi-site business-continuity and disaster-recovery solutions. There are currently 2-port, 4-port and 8-port licenses which are purchased based on the total number of IP ports populated on each port module. Optional
MDS 9000 Storage Media Encryption
Storage Media Encryption provides the ability to encrypt and decrypt data that is stored on tape. SME is delivered as a fabric-wide service utilizing the MDS 9000 18/4 Multiservices Module and the optional SME license to use. SME has built-in key management capability and utilizes clustering to provide a high availability and reliability for data protection and compliance when dealing with sensitive business information.
