Answers

Q1. What is unique about the Cisco MDS 9134 Fabric Switch?
A1. The MDS 9134 is currently the only Fibre Channel fabric switch on the market with very high speed 10Gbps Fibre Channel ports with full networking capability embedded in the base switch. Plus its switch-on-chip architecture delivers very high performance and low latency.
Q2. Does it have any other outstanding features?
A2. Yes, it comes with any advanced features bundled with no additional licensing and support charges, such as PortChannels which is similar to trunking, Fabric Management, remote fabric, extended distance support for SAN extension.
Q3. How do you expect customers will use the Cisco MDS 9134 Fabric Switch?
A3. Customers will use this switch as a standalone fabric switch, especially for medium-sized businesses and departmental SANs. They will also use it in dual stacked configurations to provide higher port count and redundancy on smaller SANs up to 64 ports. Larger enterprises will use it as a lower cost per port server aggregation switch, such as in the top of racks within data centers to reduce cabling and allow attachment to Directors at the fabric core.
Q4. What do you think customers will find compelling about this switch?
A4. Its exceptional flexibility and value. With this product a customer can start small and adapt as their needs grow and change in terms of both basic connectivity and advanced SAN functionality.
