Overview

The Cisco MDS 9509 Multilayer Director Switch delivers industry-leading scalability, up to 336-ports, and performance, with 1.44 Terabits per second internal system bandwidth. It boasts a high port density in the 9 slot, 14U chassis with high availability features to lower TCO and enable SAN infrastructure consolidation. HP delivers the Cisco MDS 9509 Multilayer Director Switch with dual supervisor 2 modules, redundant fans, power supplies and non-disruptive upgrades to ensure smooth, continued operation. The four open expansion slots can be filled by optional MDS 9000 Family Modules, including earlier generation 16 and 32 port 2Gb Fibre Channel modules along with the new generation 12, 24 and 48-port, 4Gb Fibre Channel and 4-port, 10Gb Fibre Channel Modules. Other modules available offer integrated Fibre Channel, FCIP and iSCSI operation for SAN extension over IP networks, These include the 4-port and 8-port IP Storage Services Modules, and Multiprotocol Services Module. These modules provide integrated, “in-the-box” operation for SAN extension over IP networks for business continuance and disaster recovery solutions, iSCSI host access to Fibre Channel connected storage arrays and enterprise-wide data archiving solutions. The MDS 9000 Storage Services Module enables fabric-based applications to access fabric-wide services for a wide range of applications such as business continuance, storage virtualization, data migration, network assisted backup and information life cycle management, all integrated with HP StorageWorks Management Essentials and CiscoWorks RME, to ease administration, improve productivity, and simplify infrastructure management.
