HP Storage Management Initiative Specification

SNIA believes that SMI-S will streamline the way the entire storage industry deals with management. Efficient management of a multi-vendor storage area network (SAN) is a key concern for end-users and integrators alike. Today's management requires using uncoordinated applications from multiple vendors. These lack the required functionality, distribution, security, and reliability to ensure delivery of business efficiency. Ultimately, the high cost of management deters the end user from aggressively embracing storage networking technology. SMI-S is intended to be the unifying factor between the vast objects that must be managed in a storage network and the tools used to manage them.

HP is proud to be among the storage industry leaders whose hardware and software products have achieved CTP certification in support of the SMI-S standard and the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA). • HP StorageWorks XP Disk Array family: The SMI-S provider for the XP Disk Array is integrated with Command View XP Advanced Edition and provides support for the entire XP product family, including the XP48, XP512, XP128, XP1024, XP12000, XP24000, XP10000, XP20000 and SVS200.
