Overview

The processing of seismic data for oil exploration requires the ability to handle huge data sets—up to 100s of TB's per data set—and high-bandwidth throughput to serve the HPC compute cluster. The faster this process can be finished the quicker the process moves into visualization and the sooner a drilling decision can be made. The combination of HP EFS Clustered Gateway built on HP PolyServe software, and fast storage offers a high performance fault-tolerant file serving solution built on a single shared data architecture.

The EFS Clustered Gateway offers a single shared data pool for ease to eliminate replication of data for load balancing or various workloads through the seismic data processing chain. With 128TB file systems, high data throughput without data manipulation and integrated high availability, HP’s Clustered Gateway provides the best reduction in processing and handling time at the best price point. Many of the top oil companies are reaping the benefits of higher performance at lower cost through scalable NAS clusters.
